Better Mobile Punch System using Tasks
Timothy Campbell
My company is working on creating a punch system. I'm looking at different systems, and you guys have a pretty decent one overall, but in punch it is lacking. We often have multiple punch items per unit (if one cabinet gets damaged, the cabinets next to it probably got damaged too), and so being able to quickly create punch items and have it shared is crucial to us.
In playing around with your system, the tasks seems like the best way to use your system for punch items. On mobile, however, creating them is a bit janky, especially as the photos, which ideally would be front and centre with punch, can only be placed in comments.
Could 1) there be an option to add a photo to a task at its creation 2) have the photo be shown on the list view, and 3) change the mobile view to make it a bit more accessible (currently, the keyboard hides what you type, and "flickers").
Alternately, we could make a task per unit or building, and have photos as "checklist items". I like that idea better, as then it shows progress as you complete the checklist. But images need to be part of it for our company, for both ease of access for the guys on the field (helps with language barriers) and for documentation.

Thanks for laying out the punch-list workflow in detail. The examples around adding photos at task creation, making photos visible in list view, and improving mobile task entry are helpful context for how field teams need to document work quickly. We’re tracking this with our mobile app feedback.
